Tour du Millénaire
The "tour du Millenaire" has been built on the plateau of Croix-Scaille. Shaped as an hourglass, the tower with its 60 m. height offers a spectacular view. It is the highest point of the province and the 5th of Belgium (503m). The tower has historical roots, (4 towers were built during different periods in history ) and gives us the opportunity to overview the fabulous landscape within a range of 30 km, all around the tower, using an table of orientation and a telescope.
The site is open all year except during the hunting season, with bad weather, and when the access road is reserved for cross country skiing.
At the foot of the tower there is a tourist cabin set up by the tourist office of Croix-Scaille . During the season you can find maps and information, have an icecream, drink something and let the children play.
The site of the Tour du Millenaire is also the departure or passage of many signposted hikes. Do not miss, not far from there, the "walk on grating" crossing the naturereserve "Fagne de l'Abime".where the flora particularly reminds of peatland.
"Elfe" an network full of discovery will certainly be enjoyed by the children and by those craving adventure!
Each year the community of Gedinne together with the syndicat d'initiative organise a weekend "Accrobranches" featuring abseiling from the tower and many other attractions.
